Nick Lenamon: Stroke Awareness at Any Age Recognizing the Signs and Acting FAST

Nick Lenamon, Director, Global Market Development at arborendo, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“A stroke can happen at any age. Recognizing the symptoms can save a life.

A recent People article tells the story of a 39 year old man who initially attributed his slurred speech and migraine to something he could sleep off.

Twenty four hours later, he learned he had suffered multiple strokes.

His story is a powerful reminder that slurred speech, even when accompanied by what seems like an ordinary headache or migraine, should never be ignored.

Know the signs. Act FAST.

F  Face: Is one side of the face drooping?
A  Arms: Is there sudden weakness or numbness in an arm?
S  Speech: Is speech slurred, confused, or difficult to understand?
T  Time: Call 911 immediately. Do not wait to see if symptoms improve.

Other warning signs include sudden vision changes, loss of balance, confusion, or a sudden severe headache.

Stroke is a medical emergency. Every minute matters. Even if symptoms disappear, seek emergency care immediately. Do not drive yourself to the hospital.

As someone working in the neurovascular space, I believe education and awareness are critical. Recognizing symptoms quickly and getting the right medical attention can make a life changing difference.

Please share this post. You never know whose life you might help save.
