Watch ITP Awareness Month Quiz by Rocel C Saputil, Michelle MH Tan and The Team
Rocel C Saputil, Postgraduate (PhD) Researcher at Imperial College London, reposted from Michelle MH Tan on LinkedIn:
”September was ITP Awareness Month!
At Hammersmith Hospital, we asked staff about Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) – a rare autoimmune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks platelets, the cells that help blood to clot.
ITP can cause bruising, bleeding, and fatigue – but it’s often invisible.
That’s why awareness is so important.
The message from our team was clear: support patients, keep talking about ITP, and push research forward.
Awareness doesn’t end in September!”
Quoting Michelle MH Tan‘s post:
”September – ITP Awareness Month
Every September, we raise awareness for Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP), an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks platelets, causing low counts and increased risk of bleeding.
As part of our efforts, the ITP team at Hammersmith Hospital dressed in purple and went around the wards caring for ITP patients to quiz staff on their ITP knowledge!
The quiz was a fun way to start conversations, spark curiosity and share knowledge about ITP.
By raising awareness among healthcare teams, we hope to improve recognition and understanding of this condition because awareness is the first step to better care for patients.
Here’s a glimpse of our day!
A big thank you to the amazing ITP team for making this so much fun!
