Thomas Rocco Jr: Exploring Agentic AI in Cardiovascular Medicine

Thomas Rocco Jr, Clinical Professor Emeritus of Medicine at University of Rochester Medical Center, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Harlan M. Krumholz published in JACC Journals:

“The risk-reward of Agentic AI in Medicine? AI that can plan and act, rather than just respond.

In this recent JACC editorial, Harlan Krumholz discusses the shift toward autonomous AI in Medicine, with specific reference to innovations funded by agencies like the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health’s (ARPA-H) Agentic AI-Enabled Cardiovascular Care Transformation (Advocate) program.

‘When Care Becomes Autonomous: AI and the Future of Cardiovascular Medicine’

‘The ambition (of this project) is not incremental efficiency. It is to test whether elements of care can be delivered autonomously, safely, and at scale, with appropriate oversight, accountability, and regulatory pathways established from the outset.’

‘Whether autonomous care becomes part of the solution will depend not only on what technology can do, but on how deliberately and responsibly we choose to engage with it.'”
