10 Posts Not To Miss from ISTH 2026, Part 4

ISTH 2026 in Paris brought together a global community of researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge on the latest advances in thrombosis and hemostasis.

The Congress featured groundbreaking research, clinical innovations, and evolving therapeutic strategies spanning thrombotic disorders, bleeding diseases, anticoagulation, platelet biology, and vascular medicine.

Beyond the scientific sessions, ISTH 2026 served as a platform for international collaboration, enabling experts to present new data, discuss emerging evidence, and explore developments that may shape future research and clinical practice.

Below are 10 standout posts from ISTH 2026 highlighting key updates, breakthroughs and discussions from the Congress.

Amna Ahmed, PhD Student at the University of Birmingham/Synapse Research Institute:

“I had a fantastic time in Paris for the annual International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Congress!

It was an incredible experience presenting my work on Bleeding Disorders of Unknown Cause (BDUC) and connecting with others through so many engaging and inspiring conversations. I’m excited about the potential for future collaborations and where these discussions may lead.

And, of course, having Paris as the backdrop for this year’s meeting was an added bonus!”

Alisa Wolberg, Professor at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill:

”It was a true highlight of my career to deliver the Gualtiero Palareti Memorial Plenary Lecturefor the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), ‘From Control to Chaos: Mechanisms Shaping Venous Thromboembolism.’

This lecture was truly on behalf of an amazing team of lab members (present and past) and outstanding collaborators who share a passion for doing cool and impactful science.

Fibrinogen, FXIII, and red blood cells continue to deliver fascinating biology!”

Maha Othman, Co-Chairman SSC on Disseminated intravascular coagulopathy at International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis:

“Delighted to have contributed to this important and much-needed Commission, leading and working alongside an outstanding multidisciplinary group of Obstetricians, and Haematologists to develop the section addressing ‘Postpartum Haemorrhage‘.

Celebrating the Commission’s launch at ISTH 2026 in Paris was a special milestone, marking my two decades of attending the ISTH Congress.

Thanks for the special launch and the special celebration and recognition!”

Katarina Miljević, Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Medical University of Vienna:

“I was delighted to present two posters at the ISTH 2026 Congress in Paris, highlighting research from the Department of Clinical Pharmacology MedUni Vienna, focusing on:

  • Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic equivalence of recombinant tPA products
  • FXI inhibition with cenvacibart and its effects on hemodialysis circuit clotting

Grateful to all collaborators and co-authors who contributed to these projects.

Looking forward to the discussions and future research opportunities.”

Alessandro Ciarcia, Marketing Director at Sanofi:

“Excited to be at ISTH 2026, where the global thrombosis and hemostasis community comes together to share knowledge, challenge ideas, and drive progress for patients.

One of the greatest values of this meeting is the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with leading experts, clinicians, researchers, and industry partners who are advancing our understanding of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP)—a rare, life-threatening disease where continued collaboration, innovation, and scientific exchange can have a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

Looking forward to learning from the latest science, exchanging perspectives, and building connections that help move the field forward.”

Julia Sandrin Gauer, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Leeds:

“I had a wonderful time at ISTH 2026!

I was delighted to have the opportunity to moderate the early career session on Saturday morning, present my work during one of the oral communication sessions, lead discussions in the early career lounge, and network with colleagues and friends at the networking event.

See you all in Vancouver!”

Gatoto Carole, Programme Manager at Novo Nordisk Haemophilia and Haemoglobinopathies Foundation:

“A meaningful week at the ISTH 2026 congress in Paris, with valuable exchanges!

Key moments so far included a productive meeting with partners from Senegal, International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) and the CRH French Reference Center for Hemophilia Lyon, discussing a potential educational partnership to support haemophilia care.

We also had an inspiring knowledge exchange session on cost-effective point-of-care testing (POCT) solutions for haemophilia and von Willebrand disease in African countries.

Thank you, Dr Rucha, for your invaluable insights into how these solutions could support access to diagnosis and care.

ISTH is a valuable space to connect with committed Novo Nordisk Haemophilia and Haemoglobinopathies Foundation partners from around the world, exchange learning, strengthen relationships and reaffirm our collective commitment to improving care for people living with haemophilia and haemoglobinopathies.

We are still here until 14 July and look forward to continuing the exchange, as well as meeting new potential connections!

Booth number 301

Thank you to all partners and colleagues who are taking the time to connect!”

Pierre Grès, PHD Student at LVTS – Laboratory for Vascular Translational Science:

”This week marked the end of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) conference, which took place this year in Paris from July 11 to 15, 2026.

During the five-day conference, I had the opportunity to present part of my doctoral thesis research as a poster on Protease nexin-1 (PN-1), an antiprotease belonging to the serpin family, in hemophilic arthropathy.

This research is conducted in our laboratory, the LVTS – Laboratory for Vascular Translational Science and we are proud to be carrying it out there.

It was an unforgettable experience to be able to exchange ideas with experts from around the world in the field of hemostasis.

Thank you again to the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) for organizing this event.”
