Highlights and Care Insights from Day 1 at EHC 2026 – European Haemophilia Consortium

“That’s a wrap on Day 1 of the EHC 2026 Annual Conference!

We kicked things off in Istanbul with Session 1 – Haemophilia Care in Türkiye, hosted by Türkiye Hemofili Derneği and chaired by EHC President Tatjana Markovic and EHC Medical Advisory Group Chair Maria Elisa Mancuso. Prof Osman Bülent Zülfikar opened with the current landscape of care in Türkiye, Prof Başak Koç examined treatment strategies and access, and Dr Caner Dadak closed the session with the patient and family perspective.

Session 2 – The Evolving Treatment Landscape followed, chaired by EHC Steering Committee Member Panagiotis Christoforou, with Dr Pratima Chowdary and Prof Başak Koç taking us through the latest therapeutic developments in bleeding disorders care, from mimetics to rebalancing therapies, grounded in real clinical cases.

In the afternoon, Session 3 – My Journey to Diagnosis, chaired by Dr Maria Elisa Mancuso and patient advocate Jim O’Leary, brought clinical and lived experience together, exploring what it really means to live with an extremely rare bleeding disorder, with Dr Alessandro Casini, Mary Flanagan, Helen Tate, and Christina Burgess.
