Clot Classroom: Renal Vein Thrombosis (RVT) – World Thrombosis Day
World Thrombosis Day shared on LinkedIn:
“Clot Classroom: Renal Vein Thrombosis (RVT). Renal vein thrombosis occurs when thrombus formation obstructs venous outflow from the kidney, impairing filtration and renal function.
In adults, RVT is most commonly associated with nephrotic syndrome, including immune-mediated conditions such as lupus that increase hypercoagulability.
Understanding the pathophysiology of RVT is key to timely recognition and management in at-risk patients.
