Kemal Karaagac: Optimising DOAC Resumption After Major Bleeding in Atrial Fibrillation
Kemal Karaagac, Cardiologist at Cihangir Hospital, shared a post on X about a recent article by Nour Al-Hussainy et al, published in BMJ Journals, adding:
“Early DOAC resumption after major bleeding in AF may stroke risk but recurrent bleeding.
DOAC monotherapy offers strong stroke protection, despite higher bleeding risk.
Individualised decisions and further trials are needed to define the optimal timing for restarting DOACs.”
Title: Timing of anticoagulation restart after serious bleeding in atrial fibrillation
