ADAMTS13 and Vascular Cognitive Impairment in the Heart–Brain Connection Study – JTH

Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) shared on LinkedIn about a recent article by Amos Pomp et al, adding:

”ADAMTS13 and von Willebrand Factor in relation to vascular cognitive impairment and cerebral small vessel disease: the heart-brain connection study

In 267 participants from the Heart-Brain Connection study, lower ADAMTS13 activity was independently associated with vascular cognitive impairment (OR 1.46 per SD decrease), whereas elevated von Willebrand factor was not.

Both lower ADAMTS13 and higher VWF correlated with markers of cerebral small vessel disease, including white matter hyperintensities and lacunes.’
