Anteneh Berhane: Supporting Healthier Pregnancies Through Early Nutrition

Anteneh Berhane, Assistant Professor of Human Nutrition and Public Health at School of Public Health, College of Health sciences and Medicine, Haramaya University, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and Tefera Belachew co-authored, published in BMJ Public Health, adding:

“We are pleased to share our newly published article:

‘Understanding challenges and opportunities to implement preconception iron and folic acid supplementation to prevent neural tube defects and iron deficiency anaemia in the Ethiopian health care system: a qualitative study.’

Published in: BMJ Public Health.

This qualitative study explores implementation challenges and opportunities for preconception iron and folic acid supplementation in Ethiopia’s health system.

It highlights key system, service delivery, and contextual factors that influence effective prevention of neural tube defects and iron deficiency anaemia.

We hope the findings contribute to strengthening maternal and preconception nutrition policies and implementation strategies in low-resource settings.

We welcome your engagement and collaboration.”
