Atieh Karimzadeh: Romiplostim Shows High Response and Reduced Bleeding in Pediatric HSCT

Atieh Karimzadeh, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Pediatric Cell and Gene Therapy Research Center, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, adding:

“Excited to share another publication from our team!

Our study, ‘Efficacy and Safety of Romiplostim in Treating Thrombocytopenia after Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Pediatric Patients‘, has been published in the Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (Q1, IF=4.4)

In the largest prospective pediatric study to date on this topic, we found that romiplostim achieved an impressive 80.9% response rate, significantly reduced bleeding events, and

helped most patients become transfusion-independent – all with an excellent safety profile.

These findings highlight the potential of romiplostim as an effective supportive care strategy for children experiencing prolonged thrombocytopenia after HSCT.

Special thanks to Amir Ali Hamidieh and Maryam Behfar for their invaluable mentorship, guidance, and support throughout this project.

Shout out to the brilliant Zahra Karimizadeh for this amazing collaboration.

Proud to contribute to advancing pediatric HSCT research and improving patient outcomes.”
