Daniel I McIsaac: Less Blood Loss and No Excess VTE with Tranexamic Acid in High-Risk Surgery

Daniel I McIsaac, Professor and Vice Chair of Research and Innovation in Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at University of Ottawa, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in NEJM, adding:

”For every 100 patients having surgeries with >=5% risk of transfusion that you treat with tranexamic acid you save 16 units of red blood cells AND YOU DON’T INCREASE VTE RISK.”
