The Next Challenge in Hemophilia Care – EHC
European Haemophilia Consortium (EHC) shared CRH French Reference Center for Hemophilia Lyon’s post on LinkedIn:
“In the era of near-zero bleeds, success in haemophilia can no longer be measured by annualised bleeding rate (ABR) alone.
This new article by patient representative Nicolas Giraud (Association française des hémophiles (AFH) — EHC French National Member Organisation) and Prof Yesim Dargaud (CRH French Reference Center for Hemophilia Lyon) argues that haemostatic control is not synonymous with health.
Zero ABR doesn’t undo prior joint damage, restore function, or guarantee autonomy and quality of life.
And this reframing matters even more for the parts of our community that ‘near-zero bleeds’ doesn’t yet reach.
As the authors point out, ABR-based metrics were never built to capture menstrual bleeding — for women and girls, ‘zero bleeds’ isn’t even the relevant target, let alone an achievable one.
Comprehensive, patient-centred care has to mean something broader than a single number.”
CRH French Reference Center for Hemophilia Lyon shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Nicolas Giraud and Yesim Dargaud, published in Hemophilia, adding:
