Elyse Moritz: First Large-Scale Study on Combined Neonatal Alloimmune Neutropenia and Thrombocytopenia
Elyse Moritz, Researcher at Federal University of São Paulo, shared a post on LinkedIn, about a recent article by Leandra C. Nogueira-Silva et al., published in Transfusion Journal, adding:
”Fresh off the press, the first large-scale study documenting the concurrent occurrence of neonatal alloimmune neutropenia and thrombocytopenia (NAIN and FNAIT).
The findings explore the serological and molecular features of these immune-mediated syndromes and highlight the potential pathogenic role of maternal anti-HLA class I antibodies, even in the absence of detectable anti-HPA or anti-HNA antibodies – reinforcing the importance of including HLA testing in the diagnostic workup of neonatal cytopenias.”
