Emina Curic: Improving the Understanding of Factor V Leiden in Everyday Clinical Practice

Emina Curic, Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Science, Clinical pharmacology and PhD student at Center for Primary Healthcare Research,  shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Journal of Thrombosis and Thrombolysis, adding:

I’m excited to share our latest publication:

Real-world data on Factor V Leiden in Sweden: A nationwide family study

This study highlights the value of real-world nationwide data in improving our understanding of Factor V Leiden in everyday clinical practice.

We found that Factor V Leiden is likely underdiagnosed in Sweden and is associated with a substantially increased risk of venous thromboembolism. I hope these findings will encourage further discussion on optimizing thrombophilia screening and risk assessment.

I’m grateful to all my co-authors and especially my supervisor, Professor Bengt Zöller who made this work possible.

It’s been a rewarding project, and I hope these findings contribute to improving evidence-based care for patients at risk of venous thromboembolism.”
