Jignesh Patel: Can Edoxaban and Rivaroxaban Be Prescribed for Breastfeeding Mothers?
Jignesh Patel, Reader and Honorary Consultant Pharmacist in Anticoagulation at King’s College London shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Journal of Thrombosis and Hemostasis, adding:
”Can edoxaban and rivaroxaban be prescribed for breastfeeding mothers? – The New Horizons clinical trial
Pleased to share the New Horizons clinical trial publication, which addresses rivaroxaban and edoxaban transfer into human breastmilk in women within 12
weeks of delivery. As well as conventional non-compartmental analysis, our analysis is supplemented with PBPK modelling allowing population variability to
be explored. The New Horizons trial provides the first human data on edoxaban transfer and further data on rivaroxaban.
