João Duarte: Navigating Tandem Occlusions in Acute Ischemic Stroke
João Duarte, Resident Physician with Specific Training in Neurology at Lisbon Central University Hospital Center, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
”I am thrilled to share my first official article as a first author – ‘Management of tandem occlusions in acute ischaemic stroke’, published at Sage‘s Therapeutic Advances in Neurological Disorders!
This narrative review resulted from a joint effort with Mariana B. Morais, Isabel Fragata and Diana Aguiar de Sousa, aiming to better summarise current evidence on tandem occlusion medical and endovascular treatments, as well as epidemiological, diagnostic and prognostic keypoints.
I thank the co-authors for their invaluable contributions to this article!
Tandem occlusions are a subgroup of acute ischaemic stroke with specific caveats and therapeutic approaches.
Evidence regarding its management is currently growing, and a deep knowledge about the particularities of these vascular lesions are paramount to achieve excellence in treatment.”
