Kate Scrivener: The Big Picture of Exercise Trials to Prevent Falls After Stroke
Kate Scrivener, Allied Health Research Fellow at Alfred Health, Associate Professor at Monash University, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Clinical Rehabilitation, adding:
”Pleased to share our latest review in Clinical Rehabilitation.
While finalising our own falls trial, we stepped back to look at the bigger picture of exercise trials to prevent falls after stroke.
What did we do differently?
We only included trials where falls prevention was the primary focus, not a side outcome.
What did we find?
There are now three large trials (including ours) that investigate falls prevention.
And results for decreasing falls and improving mobility are very positive.
A big shift for stroke research and a really encouraging sign of where things are heading.”
