Kathleen Freson: Human Cell Models Advance Research into Rare Platelet Disorders
Kathleen Freson, Professor at KU Leuven, Chair of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleague, published in Haematologica Journal, adding:
” Kato Ramaekers ‘s review is just out in Haematologica Journal !
This work evaluates the indispensable role of human cell-based platforms in studying megakaryopoiesis and platelet formation to understand rare platelet disorders.
As we navigate a growing landscape of novel genetic variants, these models are vital for establishing clear genotype-phenotype relationships. A perfect model doesn’t exist but we get closer!”
