Mazen A. Juratli: Platelet-Derived Extracellular Vesicles as Potential Predictors of Survival in Liver Cancer

Mazen A. Juratli, Professor and Senior Consultant in Visceral Surgery at the University Hospital Münster, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in OAE Journals, adding:

“New publication: Platelet-derived extracellular vesicles and post-ablation survival in HCC

Our prospective cohort study is now out in: Extracellular Vesicles and Circulating Nucleic Acids

We profiled plasma extracellular vesicles (EVs) in 53 patients (38 HCC) before and 1 h after microwave ablation, alongside cytokines and T-cell subsets.

Key findings:

HCC patients showed a distinct EV signature with liver cancer stem cell-associated markers (CD133, CD44, CD24).

Four platelet-adhesion EV markers (CD29, CD41b, CD42a, CD62P) were higher before ablation in HCC patients who later died.

Thank you to all co-authors!”
