Leonardo Roever: A Simple Biomarker With Prognostic Value in Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Leonardo Roever, CEO of Brazilian Evidence-Based Health Network, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article by Huangcheng Shangguan et al, published in Lipids in Health and Disease, adding:

”Predictive Value of the Neutrophil/Apolipoprotein A1 Ratio for Early Postoperative Cerebral Infarction in Patients with Ruptured Cerebral Aneurysms

Early postoperative cerebral infarction (EPCI) remains a significant complication following surgical treatment of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) and contributes to unfavorable neurological outcomes.

The neutrophil/apolipoprotein A1 ratio (RNA), which indicates systemic inflammation and lipid-related vascular protection, has demonstrated prognostic significance in several vascular diseases.

A higher RNA at admission was independently correlated with an increased risk of EPCI and unfavorable prognosis.

RNA, as an accessible and readily available biomarker, may offer practical benefits for early risk assessment and perioperative clinical management.”
