Marc Carrier: TRIM-Line Trial Evaluates VTE Prevention in Cancer

Marc Carrier, Professor at Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Thrombosis and Haemostasis, adding:

“An important knowledge gap: patients with cancer and a central venous catheter face an increased risk of venous thromboembolism, yet definitive evidence to support routine thromboprophylaxis after catheter insertion is lacking.

TRIM-Line is an ongoing randomized trial comparing rivaroxaban 10 mg daily with placebo for 90 days to determine whether prophylaxis reduces VTE with an acceptable bleeding risk.

We have enrolled 500 Canadian patients!

We are planning to open sites in France, Saudi Arabia and Italy.”
