Martin Tøffner Pedersen: Reducing False-Negative Results in Transfusion Testing

Martin Tøffner Pedersen, Biomedical Laboratory Science Instructor at Department of Blood Sampling, Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology of Hospital of Southern Jutland, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Transfusion Medicine, adding:

“Hello colleague from the laboratory world

Are you perhaps like me and thinking about the possibility of incorrect laboratory results, especially false negatives, which may slip through without being detected?

We have recently published a method for column agglutination tests, which by calculating the bending of the liquid surface, can give a statement whether the result may be false negative and that blood transfusion can therefore be potentially dangerous for the patient.

If there are others who have thought/worked on the same topic or similar and would like to discuss this, I would be very happy if you would contact me.
