Paolo Zamboni: Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency Hypothesis in Multiple Sclerosis
Paolo Zamboni, Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital of Ferrara, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, adding:
“Today, my article ‘Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis’ reached 1,000 citations.
It is not my most cited paper, but it is certainly the one that literally sparked a fierce scientific controversy.
Even today, when a young resident investigates the jugular veins using ECD in a patient with MS, they ask me, ‘Professor, how could they claim it wasn’t true?’ I reply, ‘That is part of modern medicine, too—a game of illusion designed to either create or deny scientific evidence.'”
