Paula Dibo: New Evidence Connecting Anti PLA2R Antibodies and Thrombosis Risk
Paula Dibo, Assistant Professor at Emory University Department of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Glamerular Diseases:
“I’m excited to share our recent publication:
Serum Phospholipase A2 Receptor Antibody is Associated with Thromboembolic Risk in Primary Membranous Nephropathy
This systematic review and meta-analysis, including over 1,000 patients, is the first to demonstrate an association between serum anti-PLA2R antibodies and thromboembolic risk.
Our findings suggest a potential role for these antibodies as a biomarker to improve risk stratification, while also highlighting an early hypercoagulable state and a meaningful risk of multisite thrombosis in this population.
These insights reinforce the importance of close monitoring and represent a step toward better shared decision-making with our patients.
I’m deeply grateful to my co-authors for their collaboration and dedication, and especially to Arun Rajasekaran and Henrique Alexsander Ferreira Neves for their guidance and support throughout this work.
Looking forward to future studies that will help define how best to translate these findings into clinical practice, particularly regarding anticoagulation strategies.”
