Raghavendra Rao: The Link Between Neuropathy and Chronic Venous Disease
Raghavendra Rao, General Surgeon at Vein Clinic, Founder of Best Surgical Education, LLC, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Vritika Ravisangar et al, published in Journal of Vascular Surgery: Venous and Lymphatic Disorders, adding:
”I have had several patients present to me with neuropathy-like symptoms but without a known cause for the neuropathy. On duplex testing, they had venous reflux.
A recent review shows possible relationship between neuropathy and chronic venous disease. They show clinical correlation as well as mechanistic evidence.
We need more awareness regarding this relationship (even in patients who have diabetes or other causes for their neuropathy) and studies showing the efficacy of endovenous ablation in treating these symptoms.
Personally, I know this is an under-recognized issue, and endovenous ablation has been effective in such patients.”
