Shahab Sheikhalishahi: A Rare Case of Portal Vein Thrombosis After Echis Carinatus Envenomation
Shahab Sheikhalishahi, Medical Student and Clinical Researcher at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
”Sharing this case report and literature review on portal vein thrombosis following Echis carinatus envenomation, published in Thrombosis Journal.
This case highlights a rare but clinically significant delayed thrombotic complication after snakebite, emphasizing the importance of long-term follow-up even when initial coagulopathic abnormalities appear to resolve.
Importantly, this work reflects the dedicated longitudinal care and clinical insight of Dr. Amirbeigy, who has closely followed and managed this patient over the past three years.
Such sustained clinical commitment was essential in recognizing the evolution of this complication and bringing this case to light.”
