Siddarth Raajasekar on Neopterin Association with Stroke and Carotid Endarterectomy

Siddarth Raajasekar, Principal Investigator at The Vital Lab, shared on LinkedIn:

”I am pleased to share that my latest research article has been published in Pteridines (De Gruyter Brill).

Title: Plasma total neopterin and neopterin levels are significantly elevated in stroke patients before carotid endarterectomy surgery
DOI: 10.1515/pteridines-2025-0055

This study provides new clinical evidence linking macrophage-driven inflammatory metabolites—neopterin and total neopterin—to vascular risk in patients undergoing carotid endarterectomy.

It reinforces the translational relevance of immune-redox biomarkers in cerebrovascular disease.

Grateful to my collaborators, mentors, and institutional support for enabling this work.

I look forward to expanding this line of research through the VITAL Lab with upcoming multicentric clinical and computational studies.”
