Wolfgang Miesbach: Therapeutic Potential of Protein S Inhibition in Glanzmann Thrombasthenia
Wolfgang Miesbach, Professor of Medicine at Frankfurt University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Rim Diab et al, adding:
“Honored to have attended last weekend’s EHA‑SWG Scientific Meeting on Bleeding and Platelet Disorders, where Rim Diab from the Anne Angelillo-Scherrer group presented her inspiring work on ‘Enhancing Hemostasis in Glanzmann Thrombasthenia via Protein S Inhibition.’
I particularly appreciated how she concluded by reminding us that Glanzmann himself was a Swiss pediatrician who first described this rare platelet disorder in 1918 during his tenure at the Children’s Hospital in Bern, Switzerland — beautifully linking the roots of the disease to today’s one of the most exciting haemostasis research.”
