Erin VanDyke: World Thrombosis Day Falls Right At The End Of PA Week, And It’s A Powerful Reminder Of Why I Do What I Do
Erin VanDyke, Vice President of NBCA Centers of Excellence, posted on LinkedIn:
”This coming week feels especially meaningful. World Thrombosis Day (Oct 13) falls right at the end of PA Week (Oct 6-12), and it’s a powerful reminder of why I do what I do.
As a PA, I’ve spent my career caring for patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) – blood clots that can be devastating but are often preventable with the right awareness, timely recognition, and coordinated care. Now, through my work with the National Blood Clot Alliance, I have the privilege of partnering with providers and institutions nationwide to strengthen VTE programs and elevate best practices.
What stands out most to me is the role that PAs and all Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) play in this space. We are often the ones:
– Recognizing a clot in the ED or hospital
– Guiding patients and families through diagnosis and treatment
– Coordinating transitions of care
– Advocating for systems that keep patients safe long-term
During PA Week, I’m especially proud of the impact APPs have in improving outcomes and leading change in VTE care. To my PA and APP colleagues – you make a difference every single day, and patients are better because of it.
Tag your favorite PA and show them some love this week.”

Keep up with Hemostasis Today.
