Naveed Syed Celebrates International Recognition for UAE’s Pediatric Hematology Work
Naveed Syed, Hematology Specialist at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, shared a post on LinkedIn:
““If it isn’t documented, it isn’t done.
And now, it’s documented.”
Honoured that our work received 3rd Place at the 4th Emirates Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant and Gene Therapy Congress, endorsed by EBMT — a recognition of years of dedication by Abu Dhabi’s pediatric hematology–oncology teams.
Before the UAE had a pediatric transplant center, children needing allogeneic HSCT were fully worked up here, transplanted abroad, and followed up locally — ensuring seamless, coordinated care across borders.
Our analysis — supported by a DOH-funded grant — confirms that survival outcomes for these children matched international standards, despite the absence of a local transplant unit at that time.
This achievement belongs to every hematology oncology physician, nurse, and coordinator who stood by these children and families with unwavering commitment.

From service → to evidence → to impact.”
