Akul Mehta on Glycan Research: Mapping the Specificities of Critical Anti-ABO(H) Reagents

Akul Mehta, Instructor at Harvard Medical School, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“We use antibodies and lectins all the time in glycoscience. But often we do not realize the specificities of these reagents. In this work led by Prisca Hamm we explored the specificities of anti-ABO(H) antibodies and lectins and found some interesting patterns of recognition.”

Qouting Prisca Hamm’s post:

“I am delighted to share that our paper has been published in Transfusion!

Title: Glycan-binding specificities of anti-ABO(H) antibodies and lectins

Akul Mehta on Glycan Research: Mapping the Specificities of Critical Anti-ABO(H) Reagents

In this work, we employed glycan microarrays to characterize the binding properties of commonly used anti-ABO(H) reagents, including lectins (UEA-I, HPA, DBA) and monoclonal anti-A and anti-B antibodies used clinically for blood typing.
Thank you to all co-authors for their contributions and Marie Hollenhorst for being an amazing PI.
