Pedro Perez: Has Computer-Assisted Thrombectomy Actually Improved Patient Care, Or Simply Improved the Tools?
Pedro Perez, Vascular Consultant – PERT and VTE Program Builder at Argon Medical Devices, Inc., shared on LinkedIn:
”Today, we’re entering another shift with Computer Assisted Vacuum Thrombectomy (CAVT) and technologies capable of tissue identification – allowing physicians to distinguish between circulating blood and organized thrombus.
Companies are pushing this tech forward, building on the early work pioneered by physicians.
But the bigger question is this:
Has computer-assisted thrombectomy actually improved patient care… or simply improved the tools?
If these technologies truly deliver greater procedural efficiency, reduced blood loss, and more precise clot removal, then we may be witnessing the next meaningful evolution in VTE treatment.
Curious to hear from others in the field – Are we seeing better outcomes, or just better technology?”
