Katherine Bridge: My First Time at The EHA ReCon
Katherine Bridge, Assistant Professor/Group Leader, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It’s been an exceptional few days – my first time at the European Hematology Association (EHA) Research Conference (ReCon), this year held in Espoo, Finland.
Highlights included the young EHA panel discussion with yEHA rep Rhiannon Newman, where we had cross-sector input from Sofia Aakko, John Crispino, Cathy Hawley and Inês Teles Siefers Alves on what they think the future holds for the hematology trainees of today (coming soon to a podcast near you).
Yesterday we headed out into Nuuksio National Park, where we built birdhouses to encourage nesting in a homogeneous forest re-establishing after post-WW2 mass wood export.
We hiked a bit and enjoyed local cuisine – reindeer, also a first for me.
As ever, the science was on-point and I’ve come away full of ideas, papers to read and follow-up zoom calls to incubate new potential collaborations.
Thanks to everyone who made this such a brilliant meeting.
And now I’m looking forward to being home, seeing my kiddies and catching up with the lab tomorrow.”
