Nathan Connell: Advancing Systems – Based Hematology

Nathan Connell, Clinical Chief of Hematology at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Richard C. Godby et al. published in Blood Advances, adding:

“Encouraging to see this important contribution in Blood Advances advancing the conversation around systems-based hematology, particularly as the field continues to mature from organically developed roles into a more clearly defined discipline with a structured skillset and training pathway.

This work highlights what many of us have experienced in practice: that improving outcomes in hematology increasingly depends on integrating clinical expertise with health systems science, implementation, and care delivery redesign.

Kudos to Richard Godby and Ariela Marshall,  for helping move this forward, and to the American Society of Hematology for continuing to create space for this work. It’s exciting to see these concepts translated into frameworks that can ultimately improve care for our patients.”
