National Institutes of Health Addresses VTE Research Funding Gap – JTH

National Institutes of Health Funding for Venous Thromboembolism Research

Despite VTE causing approximately 100,000 annual US deaths, NIH funding per death remains critically disproportionate at USD 639 for VTE compared to USD 2,765 for heart disease and USD 2,724 for stroke, highlighting a significant research investment gap that urgently needs to be addressed.”
