ASH Joined 76 Other Organizations in Urging Congress to Advance SDC Care

American Society of Hematology (ASH) shared a post on LinkedIn:

The American Society of Hematology joined 76 other organizations in urging Congress to advance the Sickle Cell Disease Comprehensive Care Act (S.721 / H.R.5178).

In a letter to the Senate Committee on Finance and the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, the letter called on lawmakers to include this bipartisan legislation in an upcoming hearing or markup.

The bill would allow state Medicaid programs to establish sickle cell disease health homes—strengthening care coordination, addressing long‑standing disparities, and improving outcomes for people living with SCD.

The legislation would also generate savings for the Medicaid program, with the Congressional Budget Office estimating $4 million in savings over 10 years, while delivering more comprehensive, patient centered care.

With 77 organizations united, ASH is proud to stand alongside clinicians, patient advocates, and partner organizations in advancing policies that improve access to high-quality care for the SCD community.

We will continue to work closely with congressional leaders and stakeholders throughout this Congress to help move the Sickle Cell Disease Comprehensive Care Act forward.”
