Michael Makris: When a Researcher Is Listed as First Author Without Knowing
Michael Makris, Emeritus Professor of Haemostasis and Thrombosis at University of Sheffield, Editor-in-Chief of Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis, shared Eric Topol‘s post on LinkedIn:
“This is incredible.
The first author had nothing to do with this paper, and he was added as the main author without his consent!
I note that the corresponding author lists their position at a prestigious US university.
Vanderbilt University has a moral and scientific obligation to investigate and openly report back to the scientific community about what happened here.
The journal and its publisher should also issue a statement about their policies and what went wrong in this case.”
Eric Topol, Founder and Director of Scripps Research Translational Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This is a fraudulent paper, AI-generated.
My name was used as an author and I had nothing to do with it, never saw it until today.
The ‘Editors’ Angelo Rossi Mori, David Mensah, and Zarnie Khadjesari and this ‘Journal’ should be reported.”
