Crisanto Torres: Early Plasma Administration Maximizes Survival in Traumatic Intracranial Hemorrhage
Crisanto Torres, Assistant Professor of Surgery at Assistant Professor of Surgery shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, adding:
“In this study mentee and future Beth Israel Deaconess surgery resident, Heejoo Kang, we found that, among patients with traumatic intracranial hemorrhage, there is an associated time – survival relationship.
The greatest survival benefit was seen when plasma was given within 30 minutes of hospital arrival.
Beyond this, survival benefit plateaued, with a 5 percent absolute decrease per 10 – minute delay, and the risk of neurosurgical interventions increased.”
