Roshni Kulkarni: A Legacy in Blood Disorders Care That Must Be Rebuilt
Roshni Kulkarni, Professor at Michigan State University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This is so sad.
It tears me.
I was fortunate enough to have served as the former Director of the Division of Blood Disorders (DBD) that I inherited that from Dr. Bruce Evatt, a global giant in the field of Comprehensive care for persons with bleeding disorders, blood safety, Pathogen (HIV HCV) transmission through blood and blood products.
The division also brought attention to women’s issues especially delayed diagnosis, ICH in newborns with hemophilia , Registry and surveillance of SCD, hemoglobinopthies.
Raised public health awareness of diseases like DBA, HHT etc. outstanding scientists like Dr. Mike Soucie, Vanessa Byams, Craig Hooper, Scott Grosse and others helped publish and push the public health agenda of recognition and prevention of complications .
We must rebuild.
So grateful to DBD for allowing me to be a part of your journey. ”
