Florian Fleckenstein: Transarterial Embolization in Symptomatic Hip Osteoarthritis
Florian Fleckenstein, Board – certified Radiologist, Interventional Radiology, Clinician Scientist at Berlin Institute of Health, shared a post on LinkedIn about recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Cardio Vascular and Interventional Radiology, adding:
“Transarterial embolization (TAE) for symptomatic hip osteoarthritis out now in Cardio Vascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR):
With this publication, we add to the growing body of evidence supporting embolization for chronic hip joint disorders, building on earlier work by my colleagues and friends Mateus Picada Correa, Frederico Cavalheiro and Pedro Marinho Lopes.
A central aspect of our work is the proposal of a comprehensive methodology, systematically assessing both femoral and internal iliac vascular territories to account for the complex blood supply of the hip – intended as a practical blueprint for IRs interested in treating hip OA.
Many thanks to all co – authors here at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin across interventional radiology and orthopaedics, this is another great example of what close collaboration can achieve.
Pedro Marinho Lopes , Clinical Coordinator of Interventional Radiology at CUF, shared this post on LinkedIn:
“Proud to share this excellent new publication adding further evidence to the role of embolization in the treatment of symptomatic hip osteoarthritis.
This paper represents another important step in consolidating the growing scientific support for this minimally invasive technique, with promising results for patients suffering from chronic joint pain.
Congratulations to Florian Fleckenstein, Federico Collettini and the entire team for their outstanding work and continued contribution to the advancement of this field.
It is encouraging to see this progress aligned with the work many of us have been developing in musculoskeletal embolization.”
