Filipa Fonseca-Dias: Young NATA Award and Advancing Platelet PBM in Neurosurgical Care
Filipa Fonseca-Dias, Junior Professor at Abel Salazar Biomedical Sciences Institute (ICBAS), President of the Board of Directors at MedApprentice, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Thrilled to share that I was awarded the Young NATA Scholarship Award to attend the NATA – The Network for PBM, Thrombosis and Haemostasis congress in Bilbao!
I had the privilege of presenting my poster ‘Platelet PBM: beyond red blood cells, managing platelet transfusion in neurosurgical emergencies with point-of-care testing’ – exploring how PFA-guided assessment can optimise platelet transfusion stewardship in urgent neurosurgical patients on antiplatelet therapy.
Beyond the science, NATA26 was a remarkable opportunity to connect with clinicians and researchers from across the world, exchange perspectives on Patient Blood Management, and learn from colleagues working in very different healthcare settings.
The breadth of expertise gathered in one place was truly inspiring.
Grateful to my co-authors and to the team at Santo António University Hospital for their support.
And to all the colleagues I met in Bilbao – I leave with not only new knowledge, but connections I genuinely hope to maintain and build on.”
