Olivia Ashdown: Celebrating Over One Hundred Blood and Platelet Donations at Magna Science Adventure Centre
Olivia Ashdown, Senior Community Engagement Coordinator at NHS Blood and Transplant, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Yesterday was a special one
I spent the day at a donor recognition ceremony celebrating our donors who have donated whole blood and / or platelets over 100 times – an incredible milestone and such a great reflection of the dedication of our donors. (I mean honestly…. just check out the arm tattoo!)
We simply cannot do what we do without these amazing individuals and I was honoured to be in the room amongst them.
We also heard Blake’s story and how blood transfusions saved his life. He spoke and thanked the room – what a remarkable young man and moment.
What made the day even more reflective for me was the location – Magna Science Adventure Centre, quite literally next door to where I ran my business for over 13 years.
Funny how being back somewhere so familiar can feel both surreal and heartwarming at the same time.
Grateful for the conversations, the people I met, and the reminder that community, kindness, and dedication really do matter.”
