Dima Shulkin: The Earliest Warning Sign of a Severe Heart Attack May Already Be in the CBC
Dima Shulkin, Co-Founder and CTO at RobotDreams GmbH, shared a post on LinkedIn by Yu-Cheng Chen et al., published in Sage Journals, adding:
“Just two numbers from a standard blood draw might flag the highest-risk heart-attack patients before symptoms fully declare themselves.
Chen et al. (Sage Science Progress, 2026) analyzed 653 patients with acute coronary syndrome (a category covering heart attacks and serious pre-heart-attack conditions) at a single Taiwanese hospital, looking at whether elevated ratios of white blood cell subtypes could predict in-hospital death or stroke.
Patients with both ratios running high were 7 times more likely to die or have a stroke in hospital, though the link weakened once other patient factors were accounted for. A useful early warning flag, not yet a standalone decision tool.”
