Reyes Calzada Bau: What It Means to Live with Immune Thrombocytopenia
Reyes Calzada Bau, Medical Director at Sobi Iberia, shared Beatriz Perales Zamorano’s post on LinkedIn:
”World Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) Day reminds us that this rare disease goes far beyond a platelet count.
Living with ITP means facing not only physical symptoms, but also an emotional and social impact that is often overlooked. The fear of bleeding, fatigue, and misunderstanding from others can weigh as heavily as the lab results themselves.
That is why it is essential to raise awareness of the human side of the disease: listening to oneself, taking care of mental health, and relying on a supportive medical team and environment to navigate the journey. Quality of life is not defined only by numbers, but by finding a balance that allows people to live with safety, confidence, and hope.”
Beatriz Perales Zamorano, Public Affairs and Market Access Director at Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”World Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) Day is coming up this September. What does it mean to live with this rare hematological disease?
ITP is not only about physical symptoms. It can also affect emotions and mental well-being. That is why learning to listen to your body and knowing when to ask for help is essential.
Keeping a journal, sharing how you feel, or finding a hobby are some ways that may help you cope. Remember to move at your own pace, based on what you feel able to do. And above all, speak with your healthcare team so they can help you find the right balance.”
