Soma Agrawal: Managing a Rare Anti-Jkᵃ Autoantibody in Thalassemia
Soma Agrawal, Senior Consultant at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Transfusion and Apheresis Science, adding:
”We reported a rare case of a child with non-transfusion dependent thalassemia who developed an autoantibody with anti-Jkᵃ specificity, which was subsequently confirmed through molecular blood group genotyping.
This case highlights the importance of advanced immunohematological evaluation and molecular techniques in resolving complex serological findings and guiding safe transfusion support in challenging cases.
