Glycoprotein-Specific Platelet Autoantibodies in Persistent Chemotherapy – Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis
Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Andrew B. Song et al., adding:
”Direct glycoprotein – specific platelet autoantibodies detected in a majority of patients with persistent chemotherapy – induced thrombocytopenia.
Persistent chemotherapy – induced thrombocytopenia is usually blamed on cumulative myelosuppression, but immunity may play a part.
Among 55 patients with solid tumors and persistent CIT, 65.4% carried direct platelet autoantibodies, most often against GPIa/IIa (97.2%), at levels comparable to an immune thrombocytopenia cohort.
The finding points to a possible immune-mediated component worth investigating for treatment.”
