Maria Cherska: Exploring the Role of Fucoidan in Metabolic Liver Disease
Maria Cherska, The head of cardiology department at The State Institution «V.P. Komisarenko Institute of Endocrinology and Metabolism», shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Xueru Chu et al., published in Lipids in Health and Disease։
“NAFLD/MASLD remains one of the most important cardiometabolic challenges worldwide – and this publication nicely highlights the role of oxidative stress and inflammation in disease progression.
A very interesting study recently published in Lipids in Health and Disease, demonstrated that fucoidan reduced lipid accumulation, oxidative stress, and NF-κB-mediated inflammation in a 3D NAFLD spheroid model through regulation of the PI3K/AKT/Nrf2 signaling pathway.
Particularly interesting:
- use of an advanced 3D spheroid NAFLD model;
- focus on oxidative stress and inflammatory pathways;
- potential future role of nutraceutical and functional food approaches in metabolic medicine.
Great to see this kind of translational and mechanistic research published in Lipids in Health and Disease – an important journal in the field of lipid metabolism, cardiometabolic diseases, and preventive medicine.”
