Nita Radhakrishnan: The 2nd Edition of the IAP-PHO Guidelines for Thalassemia Is Now Live

”Honoured to be part of the release of the 2nd Edition of the Evidence-based IAP-PHO Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Thalassemia – 2026, under the aegis of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Chapter and Indian Academy Of Pediatrics.
The guideline was formally released on 20 May 2026 by the Director General Health Sciences Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) Dr Sunita Sharma.
This updated edition brings in 60 plus experts from India from across specialities involved in thalassemia care, reflecting evolving local evidence, practical clinical recommendations, and multidisciplinary inputs aimed at strengthening standardized thalassemia care, prevention, and long-term outcomes in this region.
The document has been reviewed by experts from Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) thus aligning global recommendations with Indian scenario.
