Raghavendra Rao: Short-Term Outcomes of Combined EVLA and Foam Sclerotherapy
Raghavendra Rao, General Surgeon at Vein Clinic, Founder of Best Surgical Education, LLC, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Maciej Wołkowski et al, published in JVS-VL, adding:
“Concomitant foam sclerotherapy of tributaries after truncal ablation with EVLA results in better varicose vein regression at 3 months in the short term and may result in a better quality of life at 6 months.
This comes at the cost of using too much or too concentrated sclerosant, resulting in foam sclerotherapy complications.
Non-randomized study published recently in JVS-VL.
The controversy continues regarding the need for tributary management after EVLA of the truncal veins, but a good percentage seem to need further treatments.
EVLA does have a substantial effect on tributary varicose veins.”
Title: Clinical trial of concomitant versus staged foam sclerotherapy of varicose veins following axial thermal ablation.
