Lukas Mayer-Suess: How to Best Care for Patients Suffering Stroke Due to Isolated Cervical Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion
Lukas Mayer-Suess, Neurologist at Medical University of Innsbruck, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Journal of Stroke, adding:
”There is an ongoing debate on how to best care for patients suffering stroke due to isolated cervical internal artery occlusion.
As the call for RCTs in this setting continues, observational data identifying patients that may or may not be recruited safely into such trials are crucial.
Thanks to data from the observational ETIICA study (spearheaded by Christoph Riegler, João Pedro Marto, Christian Nolte, Pimrapat Gebert) we report that there seem to be no savety concerns for EVT in patients with isolated cervical internal carotid artery occlusion taking oral anticoagulants.”
